Ever since i can recall, travel has been part of my life which also spawned the desire for me to one day become an airline pilot. While I did eventually get my commercial pilots licence in the US, i went a slightly different route in aviation. I joined the worlds favourite airline and spent 19 years learning from, interacting with and growing in a fabulous travel culture while delivered significant innovations in the industry. I have done daily commutes from Manchester to London on standby, i have done kamakazee business trips from New York to London and back within 24hours.
I have even done the reroute from MIA to New York via London due to approaching storms in Florida. When I say i have done these trips, just to clarify I have done them in the hundreds of trips, all in my 19 years at BA. I have worked on the ramp, in the baggage hall, profiling customers, lived through the Heathrow Terminal 5 launch failure, watched the industry struggle through September 11th impact. has taken me to parts of the world, i never thought i would go. It truly has put the globe on a plate. There is much to be loved about commercial aviation which is a huge commercial business, but it can be highly complex and can be over whelming if you are unprepared and often surprised.
It doesn't have to be, learn the basics, stay informed and know how to maximize the value of your ticket.
